EMCS has once again conducted a market research with regards the perceptions of the Maltese on certain aspects related to COVID-19. The research was held between the 18th and the 21st August.
The research outlines that there have been various shifts in perceptions since the last survey done in May 2020.
Some of these shifts in perceptions can be seen below:-

•The survey evidences that those having a positive view of the way the government is handling the health situation caused by COVID-19 in Malta has halved since the last survey (83% in May, 40% now.
•A total of 27% expressed negative views (15% expressing negative views and 12% extremely negative views).

•A review of responses with the previous studies indicates that over the three month period since the last survey was conducted, peoples’ positive perceptions in the way government is handling the economic situation declined by 11%.
•Furthermore, those having negative views almost doubled (7% in May, 13% now).

•This represents a 10% increase from the study conducted at the end of May. Then 64% had answered in the positive.

•A total of 4% indicated to be currently unemployed. Such figure being consistent with previous studies.
•Of the unemployed (17 individuals) 41% indicated to have been in employment 6 months ago. 53% within this cluster (9 individuals) indicated to have been made redundant following the COVID-19 outbreak.

•45% are concerned for their mental health (with 28% indicating to be very worried and 17% somewhat worried);
•34% are concerned about their current financial situation (with 14% indicated being very worried and 20% somewhat worried; while
•17% are concerned of losing their job.
